Block a website in your PC Browser.

Friends If you really want to block a websites on your computer without using any software then you can use this trick, this can be very useful to you. You can block much number of websites and they can't be opened in any browser like either it can be Google chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Internet explorer.
This action will require you to edit your Host file. Your host file is a computer file used to store information on where to find a node on a computer network. For more a more detailed description. Check out this link Host File Description Link.


In Case Windows XP:
  • Open Command Prompt or press [Win]+[R] key and write Cmd in Run box.
  • Type: notepad C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts
or copy paste this url in to command DOS windows.
  • Locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost
  •  To block the website www.google.com for example, just add this text under 127.0.0.1 localhost:
127.0.0.1       localhost
127.0.0.1       www.google.co.in
127.0.0.1       http://www.google.co.in/
127.0.0.1       www.google.com


You can add as many sites any site, However you will need to prefix it with "127.0.0.1".


Save this File:-
Google will now be blocked in all web browser. This is an advanced but easy method on how to blow a website.


In Case of Windows Vista or Win7:
  • Click on Start button write notepad on search box.
  • R-Click on Notepad icon and select RunAs Administrator.
  • A Notepad windows will be open in your screen. Go to File >> Open or press [Ctrl] + O] key for open a file.
  • Go to the following path and open host file.  C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts
  • where C:/ is your windows system drive.
  • This file looks as like.


  • Write your protocols here to block a websites. as visible in the screen. Save this file and close.
Finally when you open your IE browser, you'll see that the mentioned website has been blocked.
